Service in the House
Rep. Kendrick currently is in her 1st term as a Member of the Georgia House of Representatives serving DeKalb and Rockdale counties, specifically the Cities of Lithonia and Conyers.
Rep. Kendrick serves on the Children & Youth, Interstate Cooperation and Special Rules Committee. She also servces as the ONLY FRESHMAN appointed by the House Minority Leader to the Reapportionment Committee and the ONLY FRESHMAN to Co-Chair a Committee, the Economic Security and Development Committee.
Accomplishments While In the House
Rep. Kendrick has hosted a National Small Businesss Week Forum in her district, bringing over 200 business owners, state, local and federal resources, departments and public servants to provide needed advice and counseling for Georgia business owners all for FREE.
Rep. Kendrick has also raised money for underprivileged youth in her district including a $500 scholarship to the Luscious Sanders Recreation Center (Lithonia, GA) for more than 10 kids to attend summer camp.
Rep. Kendrick hosts an Annual Holiday Party at her home and asks guests to bring a toy for a non-profit in her district. This year (2011), we collected over 125 gifts and expect to double that amount next year.
My Legislation Introduced in 2011
1) Foreclosure. Legislation to turn Georgia into a "judicial foreclosure" state whereby homeowners would be afforded the same regular court proceedings as in any civil matter. Right now, when banks foreclose on your home, they simply sell them on the courthouse steps without going through a judicial process or a judge to review for accuracy and fairness.
2) Employment. Legislation to prevent employers from running credit checks on potential employees UNLESS there is a bona fide business reason for doing so, like in industries in which there is a fiduciary duty.
3) Animal Registry. For the pet lovers! Legislation to provide for a registry to be established that would require shelters to register pets that are to be euthanized to see if another facility could take the pet before it's put to death.
